Join author Julia Shanks at the Kendall Square Farmers’ Market Thursday June 26!
Our June 26th Community Table partner Julia Shanks, co-author of The Farmer’s Kitchen: The Ultimate Guide to Enjoying Your CSA and Farmers' Market Foods, will demonstrate seasonal recipes from an updated edition of her 2011 book. The Kendall Square community is very excited to learn about best practices to prepare, store, and present fresh, local produce that's available here in Massachusetts and every Thursday at The Kendall Square Famers' Market through October.
Julia operates a food consultancy in Cambridge that helps restaurants, farms and food producers operate efficiently, find investors, and develop innovative menus showcasing fresh, local products. A culinary jack-of-all trades a chef, food blogger, author, and entrepreneur, Julia's book has become a touchstone for the sustainable agriculture movement. Even First Lady Michelle Obama has cited the book as a guide to growing, cooking, and eating locally and sustainably. In addition to her writing, Julia works with authors to create custom cookbooks for CSA-centric farms.
