Fresh Perspective: Cradles to Crayons
This week’s Community Table Partner, Cradles to Crayons, has one goal – to improve the lives of kids who need help the most. By providing school supplies, toys, clothing, and more, Cradles to Crayons makes sure local children have the physical items they need to thrive and feel valued – free of charge.
When Cradles to Crayons visits the @Kendall Farmers’ Market, they will provide information on how a small donation can make a big impact in a child’s life. Community Table Partners attend the Kendall Farmer’s Market each week to get involved in making Cambridge an even better place.
Much of the success of Cradles of Cradles to Crayons can be attributed to how easy they make it to donate goods and services. Cradles to Crayons accept fund donations and new or gently used children’s items. Interested parties can also donate their time at the Giving Factory. Anyone from age five and up can volunteer for two hour shifts at the Giving Factory to sort through, inspect, and package donated items into customized kid packs.
Cradles to Crayons notes that people can also get involved by hosting a donation drive. Get rid of things you don’t need by grabbing your fellow packrats and having a closet cleaning party. Great donation items include new, or like new, clothing, sneakers, and baby books. Collected items can be dropped off at the Giving Factory warehouse or a designated drop-off location.
Another fun way to get involved is to donate your birthday to Cradles to Crayons. Instead of getting birthday gifts for yourself, ask friends and family to donate crayons, kids’ coats, and cuddly toys instead! What better gift is there than donating your birthday bounty to Cradles to Crayons and making a child happy?
