Vendor of the Week: Neighborhood Artisan: Folakemi Alalade

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Check out our vendor of the week - Neighborhood Artisans: Folakemi Alalade!

Each Thursday we are lucky to have a number of awesome vendors at our Farmers’ Markets. While it would be near impossible to pick our favorite of the bunch, there are some vendors who join us weekly and always receive great customer feedback. This week, we are happy to announce that Neighborhood Artisan is our featured vendor!   Folakemi Alalade is part of the group of three women who hand-make all of their exquisite necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. The focus of Neighborhood Artisan is African women arts; in fact, many of their materials are made in Africa. We love how every piece of jewelry is unique, and they even make custom-made orders for customers.

Kendall: What makes your company special?

Folakemi Alalade: The diversity and affordability of our merchandise. A number of the items we sell are custom-made for customers.

Kendall: What is your favorite item that you sell?

Folakemi Alalade: Leather bracelets and wooden necklaces

Kendall: What is one surprising or interesting fact about you/something you sell?

Folakemi Alalade: We feature and incorporate designs from African women, i.e. African women’s arts

Kendall: What’s your favorite part of coming to Kendall Square?

Folakemi Alalade: Daniel and the rest of the ‘set-up’ crew. He’s a fantastic manager! He tries everyone’s products, and encourages us to try everyone else’s. Daniel is always available with timely suggestions. He’s really just a great guy. We’re lucky to have him.
